Is there any chance you could put the photos larger on the site so i could download them and print them off for my dad?

he was in scotland for a while after the war then came down here to hull and married my mother.
he was in the polish 8th army at monte cassino. he is now 83 years old and his memory is not as good as it used to be.
he lived in helm ( not sure of the spelling ) after the war he was told not to go back home as all his family was dead and he has never been back since so i dont know a lot about my past.
i have spent 3 years trying to find some good sites to help me try to trace my past but have had no luck.
my dad also said that when wojtek went into the zoo he had war medals and they also gave him a war pension.
i have told the story of wojtek to my friends since i was young and they always thought m dad was telling me lies as i never could prove it, until these last few years.
i have tried to get the book soldier bear but have never been able to find a copy for him to read.
thanks again for answering my post and if there is anything i can help with feel free to email me. i can ask my dad any questions and see if he remembers anything if you want.
cheers ...

hi again just a quick one.
my father was from lvov then moved to helm or the other way round, we are the only ones in the uk with our name as well.
there is my mother and father and my wife and son, my other brother died a year ago.
chances are my father would have known your father as they lived in the same area and went through to monte cassino.
he threw all his medals away after the war and did not talk about it for a long time. i will try to find out any names he can remember from his past but i dont know if they will be spelt right.
he said after the war they had the medals and where told they where heros but he threw them and said the heros died and we are just the lucky ones and not heros. so as i said before i have nothing from the past other than his demob book from when the war ended.
all i know is that his mother and father where landowners and disapeared and his grand father was sent to the salt mines and his grand mother was kicked around the room till she died by the russians while my father watched ( he was only 13 years old or so) he now has 2 birthdays as the polish govenment moved his birthday from 28th december 1922 to 1st january 1922 so it made him old enough to join the war.
now he says he is like the queen as she has 2 birthdays as well lol
cheers ... martin

Szanowni Panstwo,
Natrafilem na Panstwa strone przypadkiem.
Poszukuje rodziny Kazimierza Baczora, wieznia obozu Baudienst w Debie w latach 1940-44. Zmarl w 2006 r., mieszkal w Zielonej Gorze.

I found Your website accidentally while browsing WW2 websites. I wonder if you knew Mr. Kazimierz Baczor who had been a prisoner of German Baudienst penal camp in Deba in 1940's. Mr. Kazimierz died in 2006 in Zielona Gora. I am searching for information on ex-prisoners of that camp.
Best regards from Warszawa,
Tomasz Sudol

Hi,
My name is Theresa A. (Baczor) Yusko. I live in Gilbertsville, PA, USA. I was very surprised to see your web page. I have lived in the Philadelphia
area most of my life. My father, Peter J. is the son of Jozef and Antonette Baczor, originally from Poland. I would appreciate any information you can give me on your family.
Terry Yusko

Unfortunately, we do not know much about our father's family. They spoke very little English. In fact, my brother had to be taught English before he could go to school. I, being the second child, did not have that problem.

My father who was born in 1915 had 3 brothers and 1 sister. Joseph, John, Walter, and sister Helen who married Stanley Pisarek.
Only my uncle Walter (Fuzzy) and aunt Helen are still alive. My father married our mother, Anastasia Kurtas.

I will be off from work until after the first of the year. I will try to make contact with them and see what I can find out.
